Hello Dragon-Backers,
Nearly five years ago, the Kickstarter campaign for Dragon-Blooded: What Fire has Wrought was launched. It's been a while since we've received our main pledge rewards for this project, but a global pandemic knocked some of our Stretch Goal projects off track for a bit there. But, battling through a lot of set-backs and changes and a million things behind the scenes, the Exalted crew has put together our final reward for this project!
It's been a long five years, but I'm so excited to have this final reward out to you! Our second Stretch Goal novella is...
SURFACE TRUTHS
When Nisal Theras, a Water Aspect Dragon Blooded, is sent on an expedition into the Threshold with Cathay Ineril as her secretary, he is thrust into a web of political intrigue surrounding their charge, Ragara Oremy. Oremy carries a sacred family artifact back to his home satrapy, and there are those who would kill to get it. Theras and Ineril must protect Oremy before his enemies find the artifact.

The easiest way to see if you've got digital downloads available is to login to your backerkit account: https://what-fire-has-wrought.backerkit.com/backer/digital_rewards and it'll show anything available. Your backerkit account should also confirm all rewards that you should expect from your reward tier selected.
This is the first version of SurfaceTruths to be released. The design and development teams have done their best to proofread and correct any errors and typos - but some always sneak through. If you catch any typos, incorrect math, visual glitches, and the like, we want to hear about them and correct them before we send the book off to print.
With that in mind, I'd like to introduce the SurfaceTruthsFeedback Form!
Onyx Path has launched a special SurfaceTruthsFeedback Form, which you can access here:
Onyx Path tries to keep errata collection open for 2 weeks, so please report what you can as soon as possible to make sure they're getting everything covered.
They won't be collecting errata from other spots, just this specific form. Please note this form will be for errata only. It won't be for general book discussion - you can do that in a different thread, or on the Kickstarter comments page.
Also, they already know about any Page XX notations - those are usually corrected after any changes are made and the books are being finalized.
After any needed corrections are made (based on your feedback!) and the page numbers are finalized, Onyx Path will prepare updated final versions of the book and you will receive a notice from DrivethruFiction that you can re-download your file with the latest versions.
You've already made the book a reality with your Kickstarter support. Now you can make it even better by helping us crowdsource any minor errors and corrections.
SO: Look for your reward email over the next 24 hours, or check your BackerKit page to see your digital reward redemption links. Review the advance PDF and submit any feedback you have, and let's make this book as awesome as possible!
That's our final reward link out to backers, and likely my final update for this project. Depending on your communication preferences with DriveThru, you will get an e-mail once Surface Truths has been finalized and new versions are available to download from DriveThruFiction. Again, that won't be a new reward or new link sent out via BackerKit - once it's finalized, the file will just be updated on the DriveThru platforms and you'll be able to download the latest version (in several fiction formats) at your convenience.
With all reward links distributed, I will be leaving the BackerKit pledge manager active for another 4 months - until July 31, 2023 in fact. You'll be able to access your digital reward redemption codes from your BackerKit page up until that date. Once you redeem your digital rewards, they will continue to be available in your DriveThru library, so this should only concern those who haven't yet clicked their links for any rewards to be received.
At this point, any Backerkit pages with incomplete surveys or unpaid pledges have be closed and considered completely fulfilled. Unlikely that applies to anyone reading this, but if this is the first time you've paid attention to an update and have never visited your BackerKit page, you may want to double check to get your download codes.

January '23 Update: Inching towards the finish line; THE FORUMS ARE BACK!

Hey there, Dragon-Backers!
Welcome to 2023.
Yep, that's right. I'm still sending out bi-monthly updates for this campaign. The good news is that most of the "big" rewards have long since delivered, and we're mostly just waiting for that one final novella so we can officially shut the door on this campaign. And it's really, really looking like that's gonna happen!
Ha, as Exalted campaign supporters, you know that it's dangerous to tempt fate and the universe seems to throw obstacles at these projects to knock them off track as much as possible. But we've got real progress on this final goal, and I'm nervously hopeful that we're gonna finish up this year!
Before we get to our regular update, let me share one bit of excitement -
The Onyx Path Exalted Forums Are Back!
After breaking under the strain of awesome threads, the Onyx Path team have re-vamped, repaired, and re-organized their forums. They work again! Feel free to drop by the Onyx Path Forums or any of the Exalted-specific forums (and note that each type now has their own sub-forum as well!)
STRETCH GOAL REWARD STILL PENDING
Surface Truths, the second Dragon-Blooded Novella from our campaign, is now in editing, with some preliminary art direction sorted. I've seen a real push over the past few months to clear up the backlog of projects, and this novella is really trucking along.
So, we're not quite there, but I'm excited about the momentum lately.

Dec '22 Monthly Summary - Novella Moving Along, Sidereals Finishing Up

Hello Dragon-Backers,
I'm here with one final update for the year. No major reward announcement yet... but after a long logjam, we've got some movement on our last Stretch Goal! Our final reward, the second Dragon-Blooded novella to come out of our campaign, is now in the Manuscript Approval phase!
STRETCH GOAL REWARD STILL PENDING
While there's obviously still some work ahead, this is a big jump from a month ago when it was just finishing up in final draft, and a huge leap from even a few months ago where it had been stuck in Redlines for some time. I know the Exalted team has been working hard to catch up from pandemic related delays and speed up the release of both the fatsplat expansion books and our stretch goal rewards, and I think we're starting to see some of the fruits of their labors. I go into 2023 optimistic.

And we're back for our bi-monthly update. Two things to share this month - some incremental progress on our final stretch goal reward, and our next Exalted project is ready to go!

Sept '22: Bi-monthly Project Check-in

Hello Dragon-backers,
As noted in our last update, we've moved to bi-monthly updates for this project since we've got one final reward and the Exalted team are working hard to get things on track and get it moving along the progress track again. So I don't expect very many big exciting updates... until we start getting big exciting updates again. Hopefully we'll see the fruits of their labors soon.
I at least have some Exalted art to share. It's not from our project, but another that's moving along on a parallel line - a bit of Exalted artwork from the upcoming Adversaries of the Righteous project to keep this update from being nothing but text.
