Hello Dragon-Backers,
We're in the final week of July, so time for our regular month end update!
Although... I think I'm going to modify our schedule and send these out every other month, unless I've got some new Exalted information or there's a status change on our reward.
As you may know, the Exalted team has been working hard to come back from a rough few years of delays and obstacles that are the result of the initial Covid shutdown of 2020 and the resulting shifts and challenges that followed it up. From my perspective outside the process, it sounds like the team is working hard to get things "back on track" but it's been a process that probably doesn't need me commenting on it each month.
So, let's flip these to every other month so there's still some consistent and constant communication, and I promise to let you know any time there's bit Exalted news or progress on our final Stretch Goal reward.
Here's one bit of brand new news, though... and you're the first to know. The next "fatsplat" book for Exalted Third Edition, Exigents: Out of the Ashes - is now available for pre-order.
Due to some timing issues, Onyx Path ran the crowdfunding campaign for this one on Indiegogo rather than Exalted's previous home on Kickstarter, so there were some who missed out on a chance to become a backer during the campaign. But fret not, you can get your pre-orders in and check out the draft manuscript for the book at the Backerkit pre-order page, linked above. We won't be processing any payments until the PDF and/or hardcover book are completed and ready to go out, but it's a good idea to get your order in now so you're ready for that moment!
Related to all of that, I will report that the manuscript for Exalted: Sidereals is now done drafts and development and is in the "Manuscript Approval" phase, where the team reviews to make sure it's come out how they want it to be and the various interested parties sign off before further development and editing. And eventual crowdfunding campaign. It seems the team is pushing to get these key books moving quickly even as they continue work on outstanding stretch goals and supplements. I'm very excited for this one, and the other big books, which I understand are already in the works.

While the redlines are being sorted on our final novella reward, we'll flip to a bi-monthly update schedule. Hopefully things will catch up and we'll start to see movement again soon.

Hello Dragon-Backers,
I'm coming to you a bit early on our month end update for June for a few reasons. I wish it was because I had exciting news to share on our last reward, but that's still in redlines, being revised by the author for the final draft review and approval.
Instead, I've got the recent Exalted Third Edition panel to share with you, with the Exalted developers talking about the current and future projects for Exalted. In case you missed it, a few cool pieces of Exalted Third Edition news came out of the Onyx Path online convention a few weeks ago! That is, in addition to all the interesting discussion about Exigents and the others currently in the works. The team revealed the subtitle for the Sidereals book (Charting Fate's Course), which I think may be the next book in the queue after Exigents. And beyond that, Paradox (the owner's of the Exalted IP) have given Onyx Path the green light to begin their work on Abyssals as well!

I also wanted to touch base because we're in the final 40 hours for our Exigents: Out of the Ashes campaign over on the alternate crowdfunding platform, and I know there are a ton of Exalted fans who are interested but haven't yet gone over to check it out.
I know this likely seems like an ad (and it mostly is), but here's the secret just for you - the entire manuscript is available for you to check out now if you go over there and scroll back through the updates a bit. The book has a pretty great system for building your own Exigent (and, really, any kind of Exalted) and the Appendix has some info on some of the other optional Exalted, like the the Dream-Souled, masters of illusion and transformation; the Hearteaters, monstrous Exalted who feed on free will; and the Umbral Exalted, wracked by inner turmoil and a darkness that both corrupts and empowers them.
Anyway, a head's up - scroll through the updates, check out the manuscript, and feel free to join in backing it if you feel so inclined (or wait for the eventual pre-order on BackerKit coming mid-July, but don't let that stop you from going over and scrolling through the updates to read the draft manuscript now).

While our final Stretch Goal, the second novella, is still in the author's hands, we somehow still have much to go over in this month end update. We'll look into some Exalted related news first, then our regular reward review, and then check out some info on the upcoming Onyx Path online convention. Let's dig in!
The Exigents are many and myriad, but also utterly unique. They’re not a single kind of Exalted, but the manifold Chosen of Creation’s countless little gods. In times of dire need, gods can petition the Unconquered Sun for a spark of the Exigence — a bonfire of pure, creative power — to raise up their own Exalted champions. To do so is always a risk; no god can know what it will cost them. Many are consumed by the process entirely.
Exigents have left their mark on Creation’s history as individual heroes, tipping the scales of power across countless wars, revolutions, and dynasties. Most — like Wun Ja’s Architects, the Sovereigns of Uluiru, the enigmatic Puppeteer — are the Dragon-Blooded’s equals in power, but a rare handful, like Strawmaiden Janest, rival the power of the Solar Exalted.
Exigents give players and Storytellers the opportunity to flex their creativity, inventing unique Exalted as player characters, allies, or enemies. This book presents four example types of Exigents with everything you’ll need to play them, descriptions of other Exigents for readers to flesh out with their own designs, and guidelines for creating new Exigents and Charms.
Exigents also offer players and Storytellers the chance to explore Creation’s little gods: their histories, passions, and plans. An Exigent’s relationship with the god who chose them can be far more personal than those of other Exalted with their distant patrons. Even an Exigent whose patron god didn’t survive her Exaltation might still find herself entangled with his priesthood, cult, allies, and enemies.
Much like the Exigents themselves, similar to the other Exalted but still different, this crowdfunding campaign is similar to our other Exalted campaigns... but different. We're running this campaign on an alternate platform - click the Exigents: Out of the Ashes logo above to check it out.
While this campaign is a bit different and running on a different platform, we still want to make sure that potential backers share our enthusiasm and excitement for this project, and know what they're getting in to. You have previous experience with Exalted crowdfunding so have an idea of what to expect, but let me share this preview from the manuscript so you'll know a bit more about the Exigents book before you click over.
I know having this campaign on an alternate platform is a bit of a curveball, but it's all the same behind-the-scenes with the usual Onyx Path excitement. I hope to see you there!

EXIGENTS COMING SOON
Onyx Path's next crowdfunding effort will be for the Exigents expansion for Exalted Third Edition. I don't have an exact date yet, but I'll let you know when I do. It's all set up and just waiting on the approval process to complete before being officially scheduled by the Onyx Path team.
So, while our final Stretch Goal is taking a bit of time, the Exalted team in general is in the process of getting a bunch of things lined up and hopefully the next year should show some recovery from the past few pandemic shifted years. Also, the final draft of the Sidereals book is in progress, so hopefully we'll see something there before too long as well!
