Centuries ago, the tumultuous Dragon-Blooded Shogunate ruled much of the known world. Its glory and grandeur fell into ashes amid the Great Contagion, but today new empires blaze high from its embers.
Haughty Dynasts feasting amid the stolen treasures of the Threshold; proud Seventh Legion officers clad in panoplies of jade; lone outcastes struggling to carve out a heroic legend at the world’s edge — they’re all heirs to the Shogunate, yet they each stand on their own as a prince of the earth.
Heirs to the Shogunate details the Realm’s cadet houses and secondary schools, the military city-state of Lookshy, Prasad’s expanding empire, the weird Forest Witches, and outcastes. It also contains new Dragon-Blooded Charms, heirloom artifacts, and Quick Characters. Lastly, it describes the impending Realm Civil War, including a fully playable scenario depicting the War in the West.

Hello Dragon-Backers,
Remember last update, when we sent out the Heirs to the Shogunate backer PDF to all kickstarter supporters? That was awesome.
This update isn't as exciting. Sorry!
I'm sending out our month end update a little bit early (though not too early) for a couple of simple reasons. First, I'm hoping to take a teeny bit of time off over the next few weeks and want to make sure that I've got our regular reviews out.
And secondly, the current Kickstarter campaign for Exalted: Essence ends in under 24 hours. I'm sure most of those who backed this campaign are already onboard over there, but just in case someone hasn't heard yet...
The campaign has been a huge success, and we've unlocked 33 Stretch Goals so far. The hope is to grow the Exalted fanbase and get even more gamers engaging with Creation and the Exalted, so I really hope you check it out if you haven't already. And anyone who backs has access to the current draft manuscript, so you can even give it a read before the campaign ends (if you can read really really fast).
They haven't yet posted the Exalted panel from the recent Onyx Path Con, so I hope to have that available to share with you next month. It was full of epic Exalted goodness, talking about many of the current and future Exalted Third Edition products that are on the go. Instead I'll share the Opening Ceremony, which is less Exalted-specific, but touches on the general Onyx Path state of things.
It's the people that make the games we love!

It's a big Exalted day today! I've got two great pieces of Exalted news, and also a note about Onyx Path's next online convention! Let's dig in!
Launching today on Kickstarter, another way of interacting with Exalted Third Edition.
Exalted Essence is a streamlined version of Exalted Third Edition, designed to welcome new players and reintroduce old friends to the world of Creation. It contains all the mechanics and advice players and Storytellers need to run complete games of Exalted Essence, though setting material and character, place, and creature ideas can be supplemented by the core line’s content.
All the material in the book is compatible with Exalted Third Edition, so new and established fans can collect the core line’s books and use them with a beginner-friendly and less mechanically dense system. Inside you will find:
Rules for creating all 10 Exalt types: Solars, Dragon-Blooded, Lunars, Exigents, Sidereals, Abyssals, Infernals, Getimians, Liminals, and Alchemicals.
A brief overview of Creation, so players and Storytellers can dive right in.
Rules for Universal and Exalt-specific Charms, Artifacts, Martial Arts, Sorcery and Necromancy, and more!
Advice for running and playing Exalted with mixed parties or same-Exalt parties, in multiple interesting styles of play.

BACKER PDF VERSION
This is the first version of Heirsto the Shogunate to be released. We've sent you these initial Backer PDFs for three reasons:
1) Who wants to wait?! These projects can take a long time to turn into final releases - you know that - and the Onyx Path team wants to get them into your hands as quickly as possible!
2) To thank you for your support! This project, literally, is a direct result of your support during the Kickstarter campaign. You deserve to see it before anyone else!
3) To make the final version the best it can be! The design and development teams have done their best to proofread and correct any errors and typos - but some always sneak through. If you catch any typos, incorrect math, visual glitches, and the like, we want to hear about them and correct them before we send the book off to print.
With that in mind, I'd like to introduce the Heirsto the ShogunateFeedback Form!
Generally, they try to keep errata collection open for the next 2 weeks, although it may be accessible a little bit longer due to the chaotic nature of the world we're in now. Still, please report what you can as soon as possible to make sure we're getting everything covered.
They won't be collecting errata from other spots, just this specific form.
After any needed corrections are made (based on your feedback!), we will prepare an updated final PDF version of the book and you will receive a notice from DrivethruRPG that you can re-download your file with the latest version.
You've already made the book a reality with your Kickstarter support. Now you can make it even better by helping us crowdsource any minor errors and corrections.
